In the early 1960s members of Christ, Grace, and Mount Olive Lutheran Churches of Norfolk, Nebraska began the work of establishing a new congregation on the west side of Norfolk.  The newly formed church, Our Savior Lutheran Church, held their first service on July 30, 1961 in Howser Mortuary. One hundred fifty-two charter members help found this new mission congregation, which formally organized on January 7, 1962. 

The congregation soon outgrew the mortuary, and worship services were moved to Norfolk Jr. College in 1963. The congregation continued to worship there until February 23, 1964 when the original building was dedicated at 2500 W Norfolk Ave. Two additions to the facilities were completed in 1976 and 1998. 

In 2015 the congregation began to explore the possibilities of relocating the church to a new location with greater space. Our Savior purchased the Eagle Distribution center. On Sunday November 19, 2017 the congregation broke ground on the extensive remodel of the former warehouse.  

On Sunday, September 9, 2018 the final service was held at the 2500 W Norfolk location. The congregation then walked one mile to the 2420 W Omaha location where the service was continued with a baptism followed by a celebration of the Lord's Supper.
